Introduction to District0x (DNT)

District0x makes possible the creation of decentralized communities, called districts that use Ethereum smart contracts. Matus Lestan and Joe Urgo are the founders of DNT, and their team includes experienced members and freelancer developers from all over the world, also with the purpose of having a global community.

These districts or communities are autonomous organizations in the DNT network, independent marketplaces with the capacity not only to facilitate transactions and payments, but also invoices or any other desired programmable functions.

The first district, Ethlance, was created in January 2017 and is a decentralized job market that lists job opportunities, where the payment is made in Ethereum. In October 2017 the second district was launched, Name Bazaar, a peer-to-peer exchange for registered Ethereum Name Service, with the goal of simplifying the find and purchase of ENS.

At this point only two districts are fully launched, but others are being developed. Meme Factory is the next district to be launched, with the purpose of creating an exchange interface for rare digital assets.

In the present, only the DNT team creates districts, but in a near future there will be a platform for district creation, what means anyone can create their own district. While this feature is not available yet, the community can already vote and suggest which districts should be deployed next.

District0x has its own token, DNT, which will have the purpose of involving district members in the decision making process. The more tokens one has, the more influence and participation will have in the district existence in terms of voting rights. These decisions can include choice of auxiliary modules, fees, branding, and so on.

Ethereum, Aragon and IPFS (Interplanetary File System) are the platforms powering the development of DNT. Each time a new district is created, a new Aragon entity is created too, and it’s in this Aragon entity that the governance and decisions are made.

The distribution of the Ethereum smart contracts on IPFS is what makes the districts work, in an open an extendable way. This just means that each district has the capacity to develop their own modules and features as they need them.

District0x is a project for a decentralized web, and it has already proven its value for those looking for a job in the Ethlance district. Even if at the moment only two districts exist, others are being developed, and when they are launched DNT project will become more solid. The same will happen when people themselves start creating their own districts.

The success of failure of the project will be determined by how easy or difficult the creation of these districts is, and also the time involved in this process.
