Monero (XMR) developers just deactivated a bug that can “burn” the contents of the wallet of a group using cryptocurrency at the expense of a measely network transaction fees, Monero announced this September.
The bug was discovered when programmers staged an simulated attack on an XMR subreddit. The bug can wreak damage in the XMR ecosystem, allowing the hacker to cause damage.
Monero is a coin known for the increased levels of privacy and anonymity- and because of this it has become a favorite with hackers and cybercriminals. This bug was discovered in it’s code- and the experts say it has the potential to allow bad actors to steal funds from crypto exchanges.
