Hackers have been targeting Monero XMR in the past few days. The Monero wallet has been vulnerable to hackers that were able to steal from its crypto trading. More than 200k routers were intruded by these hackers via a Brazil borne malware that stealthily mine away the Monero crypto. The hackers were keen on attacking some routers , among them MicroTik until an expert from TrustWave was able to detect it.
They say that although Bitcoin is not worth mining for hackers building massive botnets, Monero though seems to be of interest lately for hackers. It involves breaking into people’s PCs, and smartphones, and installing malware on their devices and then forcing them to mine Monero.
